The Nehemiah Band Releases MV for ‘Press Into You’

Last night, the Nehemiah Band premiered their debut MV for their single ‘Press Into You’, from the album Break of Dawn, on uStream. I caught some of it but the connection quality was a little bit lacking so I wasn’t able to fully appreciate it. Well thankfully they’ve posted it up on youtube this morning.

After watching it in full, let me say it’s not exactly perfect but this is one of my favorite MV’s in quite some time.

I really liked how the group tried something fresh and different from your typical MV, and the acting was pretty decent. All the band members were present in some form or another and it all matched the feel of the song very well. A great video debut for TNB. I’m glad this one dropped.

The Nehemiah Band Share New Single & Will Collab with Jaeson Ma

Southern California based artists of the faith Jaeson Ma & The Nehemiah Band are set to perform together after a 1040 Movie screening this Saturday, the 20th.  Check out this little teaser they posted up of them rehearsing Jaeson’s single “Love”. I’m liking this full band arrangement they have of the song. You can catch them on the 20th at 6pm at New Song Irvine.

They also share a new single called ‘The Morning’ via footage from a rehearsal session. It’s sounds like a great song and another strong addition to their catalog.  I look forward to hearing a finalized studio version of the track.

Critic’s Corner: The Nehemiah Band – Break of Dawn

The Nehemiah Band is a relatively new band based out of sunny Southern California and has been steadily building a pretty strong buzz over the past couple years. Having only heard a few snippets of their music including their goofy but fun TV show medley, I was intrigued to check out their material when their first full length album Break of Dawn was released at the end of August last year. (Yes, I know I’m late, but get used to it cause the next bunch of reviews are all going to be from around the same time frame) Their style can kind of be summarized as a mixture of Jason Mraz, David Crowder Band, Matt Redman and the Red Hot Chili Peppers.  Additionally, their music is undoubtedly and whole heartedly inspired by and about the Christian faith. With that said I’m sure this will cause some of you to be more interested, and some of you less. Regardless of religious stance, they have proven to be a capable group of musicians but the question is can they make a good album?

I’ve had a good 4 months to listen to and digest the album and so without further ado I present you with the review.

Inspire 2010 Will Be Held Jan 16th

I’ve been meaning to post this up for a while now but it kept slipping my mind. Inspire, a yearly Christian music festival held in Southern California coincidently also tends to host a lot of Asian American talent. Although neither the purpose nor focus of this event is to highlight that particular scene I thought it was worth mentioning in case any of you didn’t know about it and are interested in hearing what some of your favorite artists are all about and what inspires them. (No pun intended)

This year will feature performances and appearances by Sam Ock, Seriously, Clara Chung , Scooter Oyama, Del Augusta, and Mike Whang of The Nehemiah Band. I’ve never personally been to the Inspire events but if you’re curious about learning more, I suggest you check it out. I’ve heard a lot of good things.

The entire event will also be focused on raising awareness for the flood disasters in the Phillipines.

A (Belated) Thanksgiving Song from The Nehemiah Band

It’s a day late but TNB (or one of their members on their behalf) has shared a quick song to reflect on the holiday. This is my first time hearing him sing in such a stripped down fashion but he sounds good. He has a David Crowed like quality to his voice.

Happy Belated 2009 Thanksgiving from TNB.
The month of November marks our band’s anniversary.
It was 2 Novembers ago at WPCA, when The Nehemiah Band was conceived.

Lyrics:

Lyrics:

Happy Thanksgiving everyone
Happy Thanksgiving everyone

This is the time to remember His love
This is the time to forgive

It’s our time to let it go
It’s our time to overcome
Cuz this war that we’ve been battling
Has already been won

Just ‘Cause: The Nehemiah Band – 90′s Medley

Rock group The Nehemiah Band recently posted up a video clip of them goofing off and jamming to a medley of X-Men (Cartoon series), ‘The Rock’ intro, and last but not least, Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.

It’s dumb, funny, genius, silly all wrapped into a neat 3 minute package. Brings back memories.

What’d you think of the clip?
