For this edition of Spotlight we did things a little different and went the more conventional route. Last week the band Tim Be Told took some time out of their hectic touring schedule to chat with a-Tunes for a little Q&A. They were a great group of guys to talk with who are clearly passionate about their music. We’re working on having a follow up, in depth video interview in the future but for now here’s a little something to keep you TBT fans occupied =).

Band Tim Be Told is offering the single ‘Analyze’ from their EP ‘From the Inside‘ as a free download. That EP is one of our highest rated albums on a-Tunes and we definitely recommend you get the single if you haven’t already.

Here’s what we had to say about the song in particular:

Analyze – Great instrumentation and use of strings. It’s a very strong song that manages to be both catchy and well written. Tim, the lead singer, really adds to the great sound, rounding out one of the best pop rock songs I’ve heard in a while.

Check out the latest installment of Ellie Meets Talent and she sits down (literally… as in sits down on a picnic blanket with them haha) and they discuss a vast range of topics including pet peeves, gf status, and favorite ice cream flavors before diving into the topic of Asian Americans in the industry.

WTF: a-Tunes Mix Vol1 – Summer Break

This marks a special edition of Weekly Thursday Freebies as  we are presenting what is hoped to be the first of many releases to come in a series uncreatively titled ‘a-Tunes Mix’. In short, the a-Tunes Mixes are going to be digital mixtapes comprised of music released by Asian/Asian-American artists here in the states. These mixes should fit on a standard 80 min CD when burned and/or play on the media player of your choice.

The main purpose of this project is to promote artists you wouldn’t normally hear in mainstream media and increase their exposure because they truly do deserve it. In no way are these mixes meant to undermine or serve as a substitution to actually supporting these artists by buying their music. In fact, it is meant to encourage all of you to find new artists you really enjoy and show your support. That being said,  if there any artist(s) or members of their staff who are reading this and object to their inclusion, then please let me know (giftedthought at gmail) and I will respectfully leave you out of future releases.

Now, with all the information and disclaimers out of the way… a-Tunes is proud to present the ‘a-Tunes Mix Vol. 1: Summer Break’. I know the summer season is rapidly winding down, and many of you will find yourselfs back at your fine educational institutions soon (if you haven’t already). However, that doesn’t mean we still can’t appreciate some fun, catchy music. All the songs included on this mix were released in roughly the past yr (given a couple exceptions), and are light and infectious enough to simpley relax and enjoy like it’s summer break all over again.

Critic’s Corner: Tim Be Told – From the Inside

I can’t remember exactly how I came across Tim Be Told, a pop/rock band hailing from Virginia, but I remember being skeptical for no good reason. Then I heard a few of their songs on their myspace and was completely surprised by the strength of the few singles they had available to stream at the time. When they announced they were releasing their new EP ‘From the Inside’, I was immediately intrigued and ordered a copy to really get a closer listen at what this band had to offer. Mixing together styles of Gospel, Pop, Rock, and Blues, Tim Be Told offers a pretty unique sound. So should you to check out their EP ‘From the Inside’?

Tim Be Told EP ‘From The Inside’ available for pre-order

Faith inspired rock group Tim Be Told announced today that their upcoming EP ‘From the Inside’ is now available for preorder! They have a pretty decent feeling in the Virginia area, so those of you elsewhere should check em out and see whats up.
