Trus Real Features on “When the Smoke Clears” by NufSed the King & E-Skillz

Kollaboration DC 2010 finalist, Trus Real, has a guest spot on a Hip-Hop track called “When the Smoke Clears” by NufSed the King, also featuring E-Skillz. It’s a grimy, hard hitting listen though the video quality is middling at best. Unfortunately, this isn’t exactly the type of song to blow up now-a-days, but Hip-Hop fans should find something to appreciate here.

Trus Real Shares “Best Friends” ft Raquel

“Best Friends” is a new story (autobiographical?) track by Maryland’s Trus Real, where he explores the start and end of a relationship without giving off too much of a Drake vibe. In fact, I recommend you listen to the track in it’s entirety. This one will be included on his upcoming The Midnight Hour mixtape, due on February 26th.

Trus Real Releases “Something For Her” For You [Free DL]

Maryland local Trus Real may not release a large quantity of material, but rather tends to opt for quality. With his latest mixtape Something for Her, released today, we can see if he the trend continues. The 17 track tape is all conceptually tied together by dealing with various aspects on the subject matter of relationships. You can preview and grab this holiday release for free via Trus Real’s bandcamp below.

WTF: Trus Real – Local Listings: The Mixtape

Trus Real

For this installment of Weekly Thursday Freebie we bring you a new mixtape release by Trus Real. Last weekend I had the awesome privilege of seeing/judging a ton of local talent perform at Kollaboration DC. Trus Real was one of the artists that really stood out to me, peforming an anthem like song dedicated to the DMV appropriately called “Hometown”. This inspired and enthusiastic performance earned him 3rd place honors and now you can hear for yourself why that is. The song is included on this free mixtape entitled Local Listings, packed full of 23 tracks. I’ve yet to hear all of it but what I’ve peeped so far is pretty strong. I recommend you check this release out too.

Chip Han Wins Kollaboration DC, Amanda Lee & Trus Real Place as Runner Ups

Amanda Lee, Chip Han, Trus Real

We’ll have a full review out later this week on the historic first Kollaboration DC event, but to be 100% frank with you it was a great night of music to remember. But what you SHOULD know now is, Chip Han, a beat boxer from VA has taken top honors and is the FIRST ever Kollaboration DC winner. He stunned the crowd with an incredible routine.

Second place went to the very talented Amanda Lee who did an acoustic set coupled with a repeater. All of the judges (including yours truly, were very impressed).

And third place went to Trus Real, who held it down with an awesome hometown anthem dedicated to the DMV (DC, Maryland, VA).

All of the acts did an incredible job and it was tough coming up with the winners but everyone should walk away proud. I, GT, am completely honored to have been apart of this awesome event.

Kollaboration DC Line Up & Promo MV Released

For numerous reason I’m very excited to announce and share the line up and promo video for the FIRST Kollaboration event in DC EVER. Finally one of the biggest and greatest showcases of Asian-American talent has come to the mid-atlantic and the list of competitors include Ivy Rose, Christopher Santa Ana, Amanda Lee, Philip Jung & Dong Woo Seo, Lilian Bui, Dave Bak, Trus Real, and Chip Han. That’s a pretty musically diverse collection of talent and they will be competing for top honors (and some money) on September 25th, 2010 at the GWU Lisner Auditorium. There’s also some well known guest performers including SNRG, Lyricks, the Phil Good Band and a whole lot more. To kick things off they’ve also put together a cool promo music video with some slick effects. Make sure to check out Kollaboration DC’s website for more information and to get your tickets, already available for sale!

Oh and one more thing… I’m so incredibly honored to announce that I, GT, am slated to be one of the guest judges at the event. So I expect to see you all there, it’s gonna be an awesome show!
