The Solo Rap Cyphers Youtube Round-Up – 5/11/12

I’ll keep this one short and to the point. Rap. Remixes. Cyphers. The production values are low, and these are one-off verses over other people’s beats, many of which you should recognize if you’re a Rap fan. These are simple and to the point… or maybe even lazy in some cases, but I’ll let you be the judge of that.

Furis Unveils Two Tracks – “Push” & “I Can Give It To Ya”

Furis hits us with two new tracks at the same time. First up is “Push”, a joint with Gabby as the wingman over a Ken Nana track. It’s a great choice of beat and a chill track that you can nod ya head to. It’s good to see Furis step away from behind the camera and get behind the mic again.

Verseatile Presents New Mixtape – ‘Love Songs & That Other Stuff’

Verseatile has dropped a new free mixtape, Love Songs & That Other Stuff. This release includes the track “If You Would”, for which we previously saw a video for. This 9-song collection is meant to hold you over until his next full body of work, which he hopes to unveil later this year. Grab the tape from bandcamp where you can name your price (including free.99) and also peep the announcement vlog directly below.

Check Out “If You Would” by Verseatile

Verse has formally announced a new mixtape, Love Songs & That Other Stuff, that will be available as a freebie in a week’s time -  Friday, April 20th. One of the joints off that project is “If You Would”, for which he dropped a little video directed by a fellow artist, Furis. Fitting into the theme of the tape, it’s got a smoother, more topical vibe (regarding relationships). The production for this particular joint was provided by Joey French.

The International Cover/Remix Round-Up 4/8/12

Welcome to another remix/round-up! This time around, we are revisiting an international theme with all of the songs either remixes/covers/translations of Asian songs, or in one particular case, an English song sung in Chinese. It’s a pretty big melting pot of culture and languages – but that’s fairly representative of the world we live in. Go ahead and take a gander, I’m sure you’ll find something you enjoy in this collection!

Verseatile Release the Lyric Video for “Ride to Oblivion” ft Jin

It may have been a month since Verse first shared the song “Ride to Oblivion” featuring the one and only Jin, but it’s now being given something more of a proper promotion. They just released the typography video, and the song has officially dropped on iTunes – so now you can get a more dynamic viewing of the lyrics and put the song on your collection all at the same time. Short of an official music video, this is pretty much everything you could ask for.

Verseatile Collabs with Jin on a “Ride to Oblivion”

Verse makes a return with a new single called “Ride to Oblivion”, featuring the veteran MC Jin. The track is an inward look at each artist’s place in music, life and faith and keeping them all in sync. There’s an official video in the works, so we’ll be sure to post that up whenever it drops. Hopefully we’ll get some footage of the two together, but this may be a long-distance-send-my-parts-over-mediafire type of affair.

The Frank Ocean Covers Round-Up – 2/3/12

Frank Ocean has been a rather popular artist to cover recently, so we threw together a quick round-up of covers by Jeremy Passion, Maribelle Anes, Erin Kim, Verseatile, New Heights, Andy Ha, and Jae Jin. There are two songs here, “Thinking About You” and “We All Try”, and some chose to switch things up while others played it by the book – singing over the official instrumental. Enjoy your Friday!

The Hip-Hop Youtube Round-Up 1/15/2012

Wow, we are 15 days into the new year already. Well, as I promised last time, this round-up is all things strictly rap. I don’t believe any of the featured videos in this collection are newcomers but there’s a surprise or two in the bunch, just make sure to check em all out. There’s enough Hip-Hop bars here for everyone to enjoy.

Verseatile Releases the “Dreamchaser” MV

At the very end of December, Verseatile unveiled a little teaser for his song “Dreamchaser”, that he dropped during the summer. The trailer gave the impression that this could be Verse’s most serious release yet… and that turned out to be true in more ways than one. It would appear that Mike Chun may be stronger with the topical raps than your run-of-the-mill braggadocio tracks. The moody B/W visuals features the Jennifer Field as the attractive leading lady. If ya like the track, you can pick it up from his Bandcamp page.
