ISALA2K11

If there were a short list of MUST SEE events this year, ISA Festival LA 2011 certainly makes it near the top right up there with Kollaboration. The line up is absolutely ridiculous! You got FM, Jay Park, Wong Fu, David Choi, … Continue reading

This is huge news for the trio of videographers known as WongFu! They have just announced that they will be heading off to Taiwan to direct an MV for the huge T-Pop star, Wang Leehom. David Choi x Wong Fu Release the “By My Side” MV

The largely anticipated music video by David Choi and Wong Fu Productions for his song “By My Side” off his sophomore album of the same name has just dropped and it’s another stellar collaboration between the two groups. Wong Fu continues to step up their production values and add a great visual flair to David’s simple and heart warming song. The fact that Jenny Ong is a beautiful female lead doesn’t hurt either.

Check the making of after the break.

[MV Teaser] David Choi x Wong Fu – “By My Side”

David Choi is looking to make a return by revisiting a winning formula. He is once again collaborating with WongFu Productions for his latest music video, the title track from his album By My Side. You may recall he successfully linked up with the video production group for his MV for “That Girl” last year. The leading lady is the fashionable and beautiful Jenny Ong and the MV is scheduled to debut in a couple weeks on July 5th.

[Music Video] Magnetic North x Taiyo Na x Jin – “I Got My”

The folks behind the Home:Word album, Magnetic North & Taiyo Na have finally put out the music video to their song “I Got My” featuring Jin. But I doubt you’re ready for what you’re about to see as the crew has dug deep and reached out to all their contacts, friends, affiliates, etc to be a part of this MV. There are cameos from the Blue Scholars, Denizen Kane, Conchita Campos, DFD, Christina Chung, FM, Thomas Apartment, James Ha, Vienna Teng, DanAKADan, El Gambina, Cynthia Lin, Dawen, Bambu, DJ Phatrick, Kiwi, Heather Park, Vudoo, Lyrics, Manifest, Alfa, AJ Rafael, Jay Legaspi and a whole lot more. Those are just some of the musicians, there are a ton of activists, media folk, dancers, artists, students, educators, and more who also had a role. This is easily one of the dopest concepts put to music and unifying MV’s I’ve seen all year. Great release.

David Choi x Wong Fu x Joseph Vincent x Jason Chen x Jason Yang x Janice Yan x Jennifer Chung x Clara Chung x Magnetic North x Taiyo Na x afterschooolspecial To Perform at BU March 4th

Holy clam chowder. OK New England, hold on to your hats cause you have quite the mega show coming your way in just under a month’s time. I don’t know what kind of budget Boston University’s CSA has but they have dug deep to bring you a stellar line up of artists for their Goodwill Benefit Concert on March 4th. How stellar? Well just look at that poster! You got David Choi, Wong Fu, Joseph Vincent, Jason Chen, Jason Yang, Janice Yan, Jennifer Chung, Clara Chung, Magnetic North, Taiyo Na, and Afterschoolspecial. It’s just a shame they spelled Jennifer’s last name wrong. Anyway, it must be good to be a college student now, cause I definitely didn’t have these types of shows when I was in school. You can find out more information about the event on the official facebook page and buy tickets here.

Boston University Chinese Student Association and Goodwill will be holding a benefit concert called Takeout. The theme of the concert is to takeout the bindings that restrict today?s adolescents from reaching their maximum potential.

David Choi x Kina Grannis x Wong Fu x KevJumba x Nigahiga & More Cover FM’s “Rocketeer”

David Choi and friends have put this fun little video cover together of Far East Movement’s “Rocketeer”. There are video appearances by Wong Fu, Nigahiga, KevJumba, Kina Grannis, and more. I gotta say, DC sure keeps a talented circle of friends. This is definitely one of the more novel covers I’ve heard of the song. Hopefully the original will continue to rocket up the charts similar to “Like a G6″ did.

Just ‘Cause: The Surprise Music Speaks 2010 Video for AJ Rafael

What do Kev Jumba, Ryan Higa, Chester See, JRA, Cathy Nguyen, Jesse Barrera, Andrew Garcia, Victor Kim, WongFu Productions, Jasmine Rafael, Jenny Suk, Summer Breeze, Melissa Polinar, Raelynne Rosales, Nessa Rica, Carissa Rae, Andrew Rhim, Melvin Gutierrez, PMAC, Adrian Per, Ubetunes, SquareMarden, Christine Concepcion, RB, Passion, and the rest of the Rafael Family have in common? They are all close to AJ Rafael in one form or another and have decided to put together a surprise video clip to show their love and support for the man, musician, friend, and family member that he is. This clip was made and revealed at Music Speaks 2010, the benefit concert organized by AJ in support of Autism, completely to his surprise. It’s a touching glimpse at the friendships and relationships that surround him.

afterschoolspecial Drops Debut Full Length Album & MV for “Name” with WongFu

Finally! After hearing about the album and MV for “Name” for months now, both have finally dropped. The MV is a collaboration with WongFu and it’s only more proof that their portfolio continues to improve. This MV has a great concept, matches the style of song, and effectively incorporates everyone involved with the project including all the band members and a cameo from Paul Dateh himself. It was a nice touch to see the band rocking out on office supply instruments. The heroine of the video is pretty cute too ;-) . Props both to the band and Wong Fu for a great release.

“Name” can be found on their full length debut, It’s All in Your Head which also dropped today – so pick up a copy! It’s got 11 tracks, is 11 bucks and has free shipping at the moment! The album also features Derek Kan of Magnetic North, Taiyo Na, Pigeon John, dumbfoundead, JK Films, Traphik, IZ, and verseatile. Support the band, support these artists.

Just Cause: Nigahiga x Wongfu x Jay Park – Bromance

Ryan Nigahiga has a new short out where he teams up with Wong Fu and asian super star Jay Park. They get into the potentially awkward subject of bromance. The whole thing is stupid, silly, and entertaining… it’s great =). I think it’s awesome to see Jay connect with other Asian-American media personalities, even those outside the music realm. BROMANCE.
