WTF: BoA (Best of Angel)

How’s it going a-Tunes readers? For this week’s thursday freebie I’m featuring a remix/mash-up album of BoA‘s self titled first English album that I came across on AllAznRemix.

This project is really well done and features a lot of crazy interpretations of BoA’s songs.

Here are the details:

BoA (Best of Angel)
Artist: Yigytugd (with mixes from DJ Amaya, DJ MashUP, DJ Fisun, Masa, JTLeung, Drokas, and JasonCGuitar)
Secondary Featuring Artist: Britney Spears, Haley Bennett, Sean Garrett, Rihanna, Ajoo, Younha ,C-Luv, Afterschool, Anyband, Monrose, Basshunter, Yoo Young Jin, REIGN, Katy Perry, Pussycat Dolls, Akon, A.R.Rahman, Amerie, Mariah Carey, T.I.
Langugaes: English, Chinese, Korean
Genre: Mashup, Remix, K-Pop, J-Pop
Released: July 13, 2009BoA (Beat of Angel) is finally released!! This is a remix / mashup album for BoA’s first engish album. It has remixes / mashups for every song on the album. Be sure to thank Yigytugd, JTLeung, DJ Amaya, DJ Mashup, DJ Fisun, and Masa for helping with the album. Some songs may be better than others because there are only 2 acapella’s and no official instrumentals for the album. It was very hard to complete this album but I hope all of you will like the songs. What I hope for now is to see this on somewhere like Wikipedia or something. (There is a typo for the name of the album. Change the name to BoA (Best of Angel) and not BoA (Beat of Angel). That was my fault.)

You can find the download links after the jump so check it out!

Critic’s Corner: Paul Dateh – Paul Dateh

Paul Dateh album cover

I first heard of Paul Dateh when I saw the trailer for Kollaboration 9. I was intrigued but didn’t have much a chance to really look into this artist and his work. All I knew was that he is a talented violinist but I wrote him off as an Asian male version of Miri Ben-Ari. Fast forward several months later I found out that Paul had decided to give away his album one track at a time for 10 weeks. After the first couple of weeks I realized there was a little more to this artist and decided to check out his work. So I hopped on over to Amazon and purchased his album despite some initial reservations and ignored the fact that if I waited another 7 weeks I could have the whole album for free. (Note: As of this writing he’s already released up to track 8, so for you music lovers on a budget, you can have the whole album for free in two weeks)

So the question remains, should I have just waited it out or was my purchase warrented?

Charice Pempengco featured on Now! Vol. 31

I’m being super lazy so just read the following excerpt from SRadioClub’s post about Charice being featured on Now! vol. 31:

Charice Pempengco, who gained worldwide fame after her appearance on Star King, is featured on the latest installment of the Now That’s What I Call Music! CD compilations of the lastest and greatest hits. Her first American single, “Note To God” joins Billboard Chart #1 songs such as “Boom Boom Pow” by Black Eyed Peas, “Right Round” by Flo-Rida and “Poker Face” by Lady Gaga.

I remember when the first Now! came out. It was a time when it wasn’t so easy to make your own playlist… honestly I think the Now! series are ironically a bit antiquated.

Erika David interview w/ AznRaps

Check out the new AznRaps feature interview w/ Erika David, a young r&b singer doin her thing in the Vegas area. She’s another up and coming youtube star who’s been getting a fair amount of attention. It’s a little bit of a dull interview and it cuts off abruptly.

If you want to see/hear more from Erika, check out her youtube channel.

BoA x Akon for Japanese Exclusive

AllKPop is reporting that Akon has gotten BoA to participate in a remix of his single ‘Beautiful’ for the Japanese release of his album ‘Freedom’.

BoA was quoted as saying:

“I was very happy to work together with world popstar Akon. And because I personally like the song “Beautiful”, the recording was enjoyable. In the future, I will work hard to show my good side.”

If you’re unfamiliar with the song Beautiful you can find the video for the original version after the jump. It’s one of the stronger tracks from his album.

The Korea Herald Op-Ed on Korean/US Crossovers

The Korea Herald had an interesting piece about the flock of KPOP singers attempting to break through the US market. It’s a great, short read and I’ll quote the entire article after the break just in case the page is ever removed.

Although nothing is really shocking about what’s written, it poses some good questions and summarizes the current pop culture climate and obstacles many of these singers are facing.

dumbfoundead x Korean Hip-Hop

It’s official, after much speculation it’s confirmed that dumbfoundead is definitely working and talking with some of Korean Hip-Hop’s biggest players.

dumb shouts out the quiett, Drunken Tiger, Epik High, and the whole Movement Crew before going into a verse over a beat produced by the quiett with DJ Zo on the tables.

My mind is officially blown. I love it when things go international!

I guess this is what happens when you open for one of Korea’s biggest music groups huh? Can’t wait to see what the future holds.
