AAtheory had the opportunity to interview (posted a couple weeks back) the Chicago based alt-rock band and past Kollaboration Chi winners, Parts Per Million. For those of you who are not so familiar with the group, this is a great primer to the musicians and helps you get fairly caught up to speed on what you’ve been missing. Head on over to AAtheory for the entire article but here’s a little excerpt I found interesting:
If you could collab with any Asian American artist who would it be?
James Iha (former guitarist/backing vocals of Smashing Pumpkins) is an obvious choice. He was probably one of the first Asian-American faces we in the band associated wit alternative rock.Chi Cheng (bassist from Deftones) would definitely be towards the top of our list also, as Deftones is a favorite of our group. He is currently in a coma so we ask everyone to keep him and his family in their prayers.
Joe Hahn (Linkin Park) is a fantastic DJ/producer. This is something we want to get into as we progress with our music capabilities.
Karen O (Yeah Yeah Yeahs) has such a unique and awesome voice; her on-stage presence is amazing.
Mike Park (Skankin Pickle) is an idea man and creator in music. He’s extremely multi-talented and we feel he could teach us a great deal to stretch our music onward.
We greatly admire and respect all five individuals and to collaborate with any of these people would be a great privilege/dream come true for us.
Of course, being guys, we would not be averse to working with Jessica from So Nyuh Shi Dae (Girls’ Generation!)
