Big Will Interview w/ Hmoodle

Hip-Hop artist Big Will, also known from his work with WWS Magazine, had a recent interview with website Hmoodle. It’s not that long but they hit on a couple key points such as what other business ventures he’s got going on, some specifics about his album Man in the Mirror, and who inspires him to stay on his grind. You can check out the interview in full after the break of by making the jump to Hmoodle.

Its been awhile since I’ve listened to and reviewed a rap album for Hmoodle, but I was recently given a chance to do so when I was given a copy of “Man in the Mirror” by Big Will (which can be found here on Hmoodle), but as I listened to each track on that album, I instantly became a fan of this rap star in the making.

He’s Chinese born, California raised and one hundred percent talented. Through his music, you hear the story of a person who fought to rise up and succeed. Though he’s found success he hasn’t forgotten where his roots are, and that I respect.

Big Will is getting more attention nationwide as his album is getting air time on radio stations throughout the nation. Even though his album is getting air time and he’s gaining more fans and notoriety, Big Will remains a down to earth guy and was willing to take apart in an interview with Hmoodle.

Ryan: I’m here with rapper Big Will. I want to thank you so much for being apart of Hmoodle. I know you’re busy promoting your new album, which we’ll talk about later, so we appreciate this.

Big Will: No worries man, this is my job and I love doing it! Thank you and Hmoodle for the opportunity!

Ryan: First, for those who aren’t familiar with you, can you tell us a bit about yourself?

Big Will: Yes my stage name is Big Will and I am from a small town in California called Fremont which is in the east bay area. I was born in the projects in Manchuria, China originally and then came to the U.S. when I was five. I never went to college, but I did graduate from high school—barely. When I was eighteen, I started WWS Magazine which today is one of the top lifestyle magazines worldwide. I can honestly say I came from nothing to something, and was given a great opportunity to be in the U.S. I thank God everyday for the blessings. Today I still am the chief at WWS Magazine, WWS Music Group, and WWS4Life which is a separate branch. I also operate a few other businesses locally.

Ryan: I didn’t realize you had so many other things going for you. I’m impressed. So, then how long have you been rapping?

Big Will: I have been rapping and singing since I was seventeen.

Ryan: Was rapping something you were always good at? When did you realize you had the gift?

Big Will: No way! I used to suck so bad, but just the thought of making good music kept me going. If you heard my stuff from day one, you wouldn’t believe it was me, it’s that bad.

Ryan: We all have to start somewhere. So then, how has the journey been so far?

Big Will: It’s been great! It hasn’t been that long for me yet, but I’ve gotten to work with everyone I dreamed of and it has definitely made a mark in history for. There is much more to do and see so the journey has just begun for me.

Ryan: What rappers/performers inspire you and or your work?

Big Will: That’s a good question, I think about that all the time. I really like the work ethic of Michael Jackson, Madonna, Britney Spears, P. Diddy, Donald Trump etc. I am inspired by not only musicians, but people who really are on top and have the power to do more than create music. That’s what inspires me.

Ryan: You recently just released your first album “Man in the Mirror”, which is great by the way. How long did it take you to put it together?

Big Will: That album took me about six months to create. The second album will be releasing soon!

Ryan: Are there any songs on the album that you consider favorites?

Big Will: Yes, honestly I love every single song on the album. I was going to call it Big Will’s Greatest Hits, but that would just be too cocky. laughs

Ryan: In my review of the album, I talk about how the tracks seemed to be put in a perfect order. Is that something that you had to struggle with, or did you know how you wanted them placed?

Big Will: Honestly, it was just random order, I just picked my favorite order, it was nothing special the way I did that. Sometimes I wish I could re arrange it. laughs But I agree, the order is pretty nice!

Ryan: The name of the album is “Man in the Mirror”. Is that inspired by the Michael Jackson song by the same name, or does it have a different meaning for you?

Big Will: No, it doesn’t have anything to do with Michael. Man in the mirror is me. It is just a reflection of me. For the album, I wanted people to get to know who I am. Everything that happens in life is a reflection of me, the car I drive, the clothes I wear, the bad and the good, it is all me. When it really comes down to it, I feel that I have no one to fear but myself, and I don’t have anyone to blame but myself. That is how I look at life. The album is me.

Ryan: How has the response been to the album?

Big Will: I never had a negative response yet, the fans all love it and I greatly appreciate it!

Ryan: Where can our readers order this album?

Big Will: You can get it directly at WWSMusicGroup.com/BigWill

Ryan: I’m sure you’ve been performing all over to help promote the album. Where can our readers see you in the future?

Big Will: I recently just got off tour in on the westcoast and mid west, but I will be in Appleton, Wisconsin on May 29th and Minneapolis on July 3rd and 4th. I also have a few shows in California in between, but the best place to keep track of me is on myspace.com/iwantbigwill.

Ryan: I want to thank you once again for taking the time to being apart of Hmoodle. We greatly appreciate it. Do you have any last words for our readers?

Big Will: Thanks for the opportunity! I want to thank God for all that I have gained and lost. I want to thank all the fans and supporters of me, all my business partners and affiliates, my family, my close friends for ten years plus, and everyone who has helped me throughout my journey in life. There are too many to name, but that you and thank God!
