Baiyu Signs Record Deal with JMD/INgrooves/Universal

2010 has been a banner year for Asian American talent, with FM inking a deal with Cherrytree/Interscope, D-Pryde with MMG, and now I’m excited to announce that Baiyu too has found a label home with JMD/INgrooves/Universal. She’s an immensely talented R&B artist and has been on her grind for a long time now and it’s awesome to see her hard work be recognized with this deal. You can expect an EP out from her later this year in the late fall/early winter time frame.

How crazy is this huh? I can’t believe I just signed an official record deal with JMD/INgrooves/Universal.

So what does this mean? This means that I’ll be coming out with my first ever EP late this fall or early into the winter. I’m super pumped, and I can’t wait to share the new songs with you guys!

BIG YAY!!

I’m heading into the studio now. I’m going to be writing and recording day in and day out, and will be taking you all along every step of the way.

ASIAN-AMERICAN SINGER BAIYU INKS MAJOR IMPRINT DEAL

JMD Records/INgrooves/Universal Music Group welcomes Baiyu and formally announces a distribution deal for this Pop/R&B artist from New York, NY.

New York, NY August 16, 2010 JMD Records, a subsidiary of INgrooves/Universal Music Group, has announced a record deal with rising singing sensation Baiyu. JMD Records and Baiyu have already headed into the studio, and are working relentlessly to produce a groundbreaking debut EP for this multi-talented artist. The upcoming EP will showcase new, unreleased songs by the artist who describes her sound as refreshing music with a soulful core and cross-cultural pop sensibility. The Pop/R&B EP is expected to be released digitally in the Fall/Winter of 2010.

To be frank, this EP has been a long time coming. Only those people who really know me know how much I enjoy and take pride in what I do, and have been preparing my whole life for this exact moment, says Baiyu. Now that I have a solid, experienced team behind me, and a concrete platform to deliver my music, I am finally ready to release an album that I think people will be very pleasantly surprised with. JMD’s focused talent team serendipitously found Baiyu’s music online and signed the singer to her first professional record deal. Mike Thompson, Director of Marketing and Promotions states, “Baiyu is a rare talent, and we are proud to have her on our roster.” Thompson adds, “This is a real opportunity for us  Baiyu is an amazing artist, and this EP will be the perfect gift for her fans worldwide.”

Baiyu has spent the past 6 months in Hawaii, where she has been working on her first full national release. Spending time in such a lush, secluded environment has really helped me to open up to myself and to be honest in defining my own unique sounds and experiences. Being a songwriter as well, my whole project feels like a single moment of self reflection, which is why I hope that it will speak to my fans in that same, personal way says the singer and actress.

More recently, Baiyu’s YouTube channel “BaiyuOnline” has garnered over 140,000 video views in a short six-months with her music compositions as the topic of choice by press/media outlets such as the Roc4Life Network, MTViggy, Global Grind, as well as several celebrity tweets. She has recently signed a licensing agreement with MTV/Comcast, and will be featured in an upcoming issue of Vain Style Magazine as an artist to watch. Baiyu’s goal is to become the first solo Asian-American artist in history to reach the top of the charts.
