Adam WarRock Releases Double Single – “Study Hall”/”Must See MC”

Adam Warrock may be an unconventional rapper but that’s part of what makes him worth listening to. He’s promoting a new double single (remember single casettes from back in the day with an A & B side?) called “Study Hall” and “Must See MC”. He’s dropped them to help promote his music and to invite you to support him with a donation were you so inclined. He has an awesome story behind his music and each tune. Check out his website for more information along with a making-of-the-album video featurette and to learn how you can help keep him fed. You can DL the singles here for free as well.

“Study Hall”

We had a song written called “AV Club” (which I will most likely still make), and when Joules made the beat, we decided to go to a more organic, instrumental route. Manny’s guitar work was amazing, and getting to see the beat built up from scratch was pretty fascinating. But it didn’t fit “AV Club,” so me and Tribe rewrote the song to be more about a laid back vibe, about hanging out in study hall and goofing off. The chorus came together, and we banged our verses out. Tribe does his best Cosby impression during the chorus. It turned into a much better song.

“Must See MC”

I’ve had this idea for a long, long time, and getting to sit down with Joules and tell him my idea, and then seeing him create it on the MPC was one of those weird moments in life where you feel like you’re in a dreamworld where you can create anything you can imagine. I was obsessed with TV as a kid, and I heard all the accusations about how TV would ruin minds. I owe everything to the fact that I was a cultural freak growing up. So screw those people. Anyway, I badly wanted to rock a song that sampled a famous TV show, and Growing Pains is maybe my favorite theme (we did look at a TON of tv themes, in what has to be one of the funnier memories of my life, trying to hum beats while listening to the most cheesy 80s/90s TV sitcoms). The song turned out better than I ever thought it would. I think I wrote this song in one run through, and Joules basically nailed the beat in one sitting. It was just one of those special moments.
