It’s 3 weeks into Adam WarRock‘s Donation Drive campaign and that means we have another double single to share with you. The main cut this time is actually a track by Tribe One called “Different”, with the B-side being the WarRock song “Countdown to Armageddon”. It’s about time a Tribe One solo track came out, right? This is off the upcoming EP, Papercutters & Dangling Headphones, which will be released August 22, and the b-side “Countdown to Armageddon.” I truly believe that “Different” is one of the most moving rap songs I’ve ever heard. For the upcoming EP, I gave Tribe one beat to do whatever he wanted to with it. By the time we went into the studio, he hadn’t even told me what the idea of the song was, much less having read or heard any of the lyrics. I was outside of the studio room, working on some other stuff when he recorded it, so the first time that I ever heard “Different” was basically in its finished form. I was speechless. It’s an incredible song.
“Countdown to Armageddon” is a song that was just me wanting to write a story rap. I have no idea where the story in it comes from, probably from a mixture of having seen The Naked Gun (“I must kill….the queen”) and 12 Monkeys lately.
