Update on the JK/Tasha marriage

Previously we reported that Tiger JK and Tasha had wed last year and already had a son together. DrunkenCamp has provided some additional details…

“I proposed with a ring shaped yellow elastic band”

On July 13th at a club near Hongik University, Seoul, Tiger JK was wholeheartedly welcomed by fans (approximately 150) who came to the club to celebrate his birthday.

The party was voluntarilly organized by his fanclub and Tiger JK’s attendance was not planned. However, he visited the place as he felt sorry for the fans startled by the recent news of his marriage and son.

I talked with him after JK returning from the club. When I said “Congratulations on your marriage and newborn son”, he was abashed but made a shy smile. He wasn’t carrying the cane that he’d been carrying for three years [for his myelitis].

-The wedding, 3 million won, and a glass ring-

Tiger JK and his wife Yoon Mi-rae’s love started with understanding (?). It was the year 2001 [Elsa note – it was actually about 1999] when Tiger JK and Tasha started dating, the period when Tasha was in group Tashannie. Tiger JK was introduced to her through Annie, Tasha’s co-member in the group.

“I didn’t expect us to become a couple. We didn’t even see each other as ‘oppa’ or ‘dongseng’. we were more like best friends.. ” says JK.

Although the wedding was planned at the request of JK’s grandmother will, Tiger JK thought of proposing to Tasha long before. He proposed with a yellow elastic band (rubber band), rolled it up and put it on Tasha finger. Tasha broke down in tears, and accepted the proposal.

Tiger JK and Yoon Mi-rae eventually went to buy a real wedding band, a glass ring costing 3 million won ($30,000 dollars).

In June 2007, the wedding was done quietly with only family members and some colleagues from their company in attendance. Tiger JK’s grandmother was extremely delighted despite the fact she was having a hard time fighting off her illness. Silly pictures taken by their colleagues are the only photos proving their wedding. Video clips were dumbfoundedly deleted because of a cameraman’s mishandling.

Until their marriage, Tiger JK and Tasha was strengthened their relationship by soothing each other’s grief. When Tasha couldn’t sing because of the lawsuit concerning her contraction with her former label, Tiger JK took care of her legal expenses and even supported her family members. He continuously encouraged Tasha to keep singing, and made her participate in his album and performances.

The situation flipped when Tiger JK was suffering from myelitis. JK was in despair and he thought the disease would not be cured even though he was taking 13 pills a day. At this time, Tasha was hurt when JK told her,”If something goes wrong, meet a good man. I’ll die when I finish making enough songs for you to sing and will make you happy.” But Tasha stayed with him without saying anything.

Tiger JK smiled happily as he mentioned his son, “My son Jordan has big eyes and a prominent forehead, just like his mom.” When Tiger JK says “Say O~h”, Jordan puckers up his mouth and say “Oh!” He also laughs when listening to soul music.

I told him his son has the best genes to become a singer. Tiger JK replied”I would like him to do music, but not as a job.”
