Alfa explains that she wrote this song back in 2007 but finally decided to reveal it for the first time a couple days back. This girl is so talented, putting down her guitar and playing the ivories instead. I like the lyrics of the track but this performance clip was a bit rough in certain spots. I’d like to hear a finely tuned studio version with everything ironed out.
Lyrics after the break.
“The Kind of Girl” (Lyrics and Music by Alfa Garcia)
Where do we go, from here?
The light is on but the neighbors all have disappeared.
It’s quiet enough / by the streetlights
to tell you these things / left in hindsight. This isn’t love, we’re still young but we’re old enough to know that it’s games that we play…baby…
CHORUS:
Oh, I’m the kind of girl you wouldn’t wanna fall for
wouldn’t wanna fall for, baby.
Oh, you’re the kind of man who needs someone to sing for
someone you can figure out…It’s easy enough / I think
To bury the hatchet / bury the hatchet and move our own way
I know this must sound cold / but I’ve traveled the road
and I wouldn’t wanna put you through it.This isn’t love, we’re still young but we’re old enough / to know that it’s games that we play
We’ll talk for hours / and I won’t change my mind
’cause I’d rather it ended this way… baby.CHORUS
BRIDGE:
Either way the story goes / pretty soon the world will know what a good man you are.
And as for me I’ll be just fine / catching hearts like fireflies
While playing my guitar / playing my guitar…INTERLUDE
CHORUS

Hey A-dash! Thanks for posting this, and I appreciate it! Please note though, this really was an intimate show for my longtime fans here in NY (I called it the B-Sides show..lol) and it’s all about the live experience, not the “polished” studio versions.. which will hopefully come soon. 🙂
That said, it being the first time it was performed live I can already see ways it can be tried out differently in the future. All part of the process… thanks again.
