Anyone who frequents our fair site knows that Clara C is the real deal when it comes to talent. Apparently The LA Examiner agrees as one of their writers has named her to be one of the “Twenty to Watch in 2011”. Clara had a break out year in 2010 but could this be the year that she pushes through to the main stream conciousness? Maybe, but either way we think it’s going to be a very exciting ride for the skyrocketing musician. Her buzz only continues to grow! You can check out the article in full either after the break or by heading on over to the LA Examiner.
Clara C is not your typical musician – she is a bright, effervescent, intelligent dynamo that just happens to be incredibly talented in the musical department. While others seem to be happy just writing, recording and playing out, Clara has discovered the power of the internet, and YouTube specifically, to help her make herself know to the world at large. Check her out at http://www.youtube.com/user/ClaraCMusic.
Not only does she have her first official music video there, but she has quite a few homemade cover videos. In fact, her cover of the B.O.B/Bruno Mars smash “Nothing on You” has already received more than 780,000 views, and Clara’s channel has more than 4.4 million views. Not bad for someone who’s fairly new to this whole music thing.
A closet musician all her life, Clara has only recently begun to share her gifts with the world. During that short time, she has won several prestigious competitions, played at the White House Department of Education, the Hollywood Bowl, the Shrine Auditorium and before crowds of up to 18,000 people.
Clara released her first CD, The Art in my Heart, on September 24, 2010, before a sold-out crowd at the famed Hotel Cafe. Shortly thereafter, she set about locating a suitable band to support her vision. She found them in drummer Josh Doyle, bassist Jay Terrien, and keyboardist/guitarist Evan Hillhurst.
Although the band has only been playing together for two months, what a productive two months that has been. Clara and the boys sparkled at Rockdrive ’10 at the Troubadour and recently at the latest Blue ‘n Green Showcase. They have an extensive tour scheduled across the United States and Canada, with plans to also tour overseas in Australia and Asia, including Singapore, Korea and China. She also hopes to get extensive radio play there as well.
On top of that, Clara is working on her second CD, with the hope that the songs will find a place in radio and placement in television and film.
Clara credits her manager Jon Chang, with helping her to succeed. “We hooked up about a year ago, and hit the ground running.”
While her website is being constructed, the best place to keep up with Clara is on her YouTube page. You can also follow her on Twitter (claracmusic) or email her at bookclara@gmail.com.
You can catch Clara in her next LA appearance at the Hotel Cafe on March 19.
