Taiyo Na Releases “A Verse For Egypt”

Unless you’ve been living a rock, most of you should be aware of the crazy political/social turmoil happening right now in Egypt. Although it’s great and all to hear music about every day experiences and goals, it’s even more of a gift to hear artists speak their mind on subjects they are passionate about on a global/greater human level. Taiyo has just dropped a short one verse track entitled “A Verse for Egypt”. The instrumental samples Adele’s “He Wont Go”. Sometimes we gotta look beyond our own lives to learn a little about ourselves and those around us.

Lyrics:

time moves like a swing like a globe on a spin
every now then & when people born people end
governments who govern men but men go topple them
people lose all the time but in the end the people win
we can go gossipin’ but egypt need oxygen
all north africans who need a democracy
& not no hypocrisy or treatment like a colony
treatment like property they need equality
all around the world man people need dignity
people need liberty people need the simple things
taken for granted like my 1st world privileges
but in my heart i know there really no differences
i don’t know much but i stand in solidarity
the people in the streets who speak with sincerity
their lives on the line for the future of their children
i just can’t be chillin when i’m watching ’em kill ’em
