Goh Nakamura Releases the “Surrogate Valentine” MV

Goh Nakamura is a veteran acoustic singer/songwriter and he’s just dropped an MV for one of his older songs in his catalog. The track is called “Surrogate Valentine” and is from his Daylight Savings album released a few years ago. Why release the MV now? Well the MV is meant to serve as a prequel to the upcoming film directed by Dave Boyle “Surrogate Valentine” starring Goh Nakamura, Chadd Stoops, and Lynn Chen. I’m liking pretty much everything about this release. It’s a great break from much of the overproduced and overly flashy releases that tend to be all the rage now a days.

I was the next to wait in line
to be your surrogate valentine
I took a number and it started with 9
and ended in letters I couldn’t define

I’m going away so you can be
and you can think about it
going away so you can breathe
and it brings me to my knees
and I will run away reluctantly
so think about it
I hope you’ll feel the same

I wish that I could change my face
tailor it more to your tastes
I wish that I could face this change

and I know you got alot on your proverbial plate
my lovely mona lisa is there room in your frame?
Like a newspaper boat I’ll be floating in place
to the sea

I’m running in place and you can see
there’s nothing you can do about it
Run out of breath and lose the beat
it brings me to my knees
and I will float away reluctantly
so think about it
hope you feel the same

You can be the magnet
and I’ll be the iron
you’re drawing me closer
like a sailor to the sirens
and I don’t ever want to knock you
off your course
unless I’m knocking you over
to me of course

cuz I was the next to wait in line
to be your surrogate valentine…
I had a dream in black and white…
