Seattle’s Massiah, who isn’t the most active artist to promote himself, has seemingly decided to step things up and drop an official mixtape entitled Killing 3 Personalities: Volume 1. There are a TON of songs and features on this release, including a number of names I vaguely recognize from the AznRaps forums back in the day. Clocking in at 35 tracks, there’s a lot of material here – available for purchase via Bandcamp. It’s too bad Mass is a bit underexposed, but hopefully more drops like this will move to change that.
“About four years ago when I got done releasing my third mixtape, Put The Mic Down, I had already begun working on my 4th. With such a busy schedule, juggling school, family, all this community work I was doing with numerous non-profit organizations, it was hard to find time to really sit down and think about what I was going to do with this 4th mixtape. So to sum the work process up of this mixtape in short, I spent the next 4 years of my life working on a mixtape with no concept in mind recording a ton of material that could of been used for so many other different projects. (Yeah thats right, I spent 4 years…working on a mixtape). There finally came a time right when 2010 was ending that I sat down and looked at all the material I recorded for it and just said ‘fuck it’ & started planning on putting it out. At that time I kind of already been juggling with this idea of calling it, ‘Killing 3 Personalities’, and that came to me when I realized I had content that had no real consistency with each other. In essence I made a bunch of underground hip-hop cuts and a bunch of what people would consider mainstream pop cuts and there was no theme. I was hesitant on putting it out for that sole reason, but after my epiphany of what music meant to me…I said fuck it, this is it, Killing 3 Personalities. Love it or Hate it, that’s the fucking point.” – Massiah
