The Nehemiah Band Perform “Hey”

Continuing with their guerilla acoustic performances video series, two members of The Nehemiah Band present a new clip of them singing “Hey”. As has been the case thus far, this is another guitar/cajon assisted piece – self described “sing about a rescue”. I’m beginning to wonder if they should try their hand at a completely organic/acoustic EP. Their music has a certain appeal when stripped down to the basics.

Three thirty in the morning and I’m still awake
Cause I’m here recounting
All of my mistakes
Hang on my shoulders tonight

And I’m thinking to myself that I can’t believe
That I would leave all of my beliefs momentarily
Without thinking twice

I swear I’d drown the ocean
In my sorrow regret and mistakes
But in the cloud of my darkness
Oh I heard you say

Hey, hey, hey
Wake up, Wake up
Today Mercy and Grace
Come rushing in

To describe the moment
I don’t have the strength of words
The beauty of receiving
What I did not deserve
When you pardoned my crimes

I was a beggar boy
Crippled in the wilderness
Told me I would enter in with you
And together we would dine

I saw the face of love
A jewish man hanging on a tree
I looked high up above
His blood set me free

Hey hey hey
Wake up wake up
Today Mercy and Grace
Come rushing in

The morning came to me
Just as the sun broke out
Over the mountains the lakes and the seas
And the flowers over the hills
They showered the heavens
With this melody

Glory glory glory
Deep called
Deep called out to deep
Sweet revelation
You rescue me

Hey hey hey
Wake up it’s a new day
Mercy and Grace
Come rushing in
