Sigh, yes you read that correctly. This is really happening. I have nothing against Psy as an artist, I’m just sick of “Gangnam Style”. Regardless of how I feel, the South Korean satirical rapper has a new label home in the States on Scooter Braun’s Schoolboy Records. Together, they aim to accomplish what BoA, Se7en, SNSD, and the Wonder Girls have tried but failed to do – become a bonafide smash act here in the US. A huge congrats to Psy and his team for inking the deal and it’ll be interesting to see what comes to fruition as a result of the new partnership.
“We’ve come to an agreement to make some history together,” Braun announced in the above video, with the goal of helping PSY become “the first Korean artist to break a big record in the United States.”
PSY will be on Schoolboy Records, which is the same branch of Universal Republic Records that roped in Jepsen as her “Call Me Maybe” song garnered massive fame online.
