Jason Chu Releases MV for “ChristianMuslim”

Jason (Grandmaster) Chu has never been one to shy away from tough, real topics. His latest music video is for a single off his The Uncool project from a year ago, but it sheds light on the often hurtful dynamic between Christian and Muslim faiths. Although some may consider the heavy topic and social/religious commentary a bit dry, it’s set to an animated music video that really helps drive his point home, with style to boot.

Lyrics:
Chorus 1
Christian kills Muslim, Muslim kills Christian
Christian takes Muslim and puts into prison
Muslim reads Koran, Christian reads scripture
Read every word but miss the big picture

Verse 1 [jason]
Now preacher, preacher man
Tells me all about the things that they do in Iran
How Muslims are radical and oughta be banned
How their culture all resembles the Taliban, and
He makes me feel so upset
Telling me that Islam is a major threat
So I write a few checks to defend the west
And vote to send soldiers and military jets
The threat don’t stop there a few of them are my neighbors
Suspicious, how I’m viewing my neighbor
Named Saadiq and he claims that he’s native
But prays to Allah, so he must be Al Qaida
Three weeks later there’s a news report
Saying the sign at the local mosque has been torched
And my Christian brothers seem happy to hear it
Is this the joy of the Holy Spirit?
Hate in their eyes but I see the fear
To see the enemy we just look in the mirror

Chorus 2
Muslim kills Christian, Christian kills Muslim
Mecca Medina Jerusalem
We go back and forth on our holy wars
Swords with a crescent, guns with a cross

Verse 2
Christians and Muslims, we aren’t the same
They say Isa’s a prophet I say he came
To save the whole world by dyin in shame
And then came back to life on the third day
But I can see the diff’rence between radicals and militants
And the man who sells, falafel brushed with cinnamon
And if I’m bein different by saying what seems plain
I don’t care if I stand out – I don’t wanna be the same
There’s a big jump from my man Ryan
To radical men like John Walker Lindh
And for every AK-totin’ suicide bomb
There’s a hundred families just getting along
So word to imams who lead with love
And word to the pastors whose words don’t judge
The fathers and moms, daughters and sons
And word to the presence that’s shinin’ above

Chorus 3
Christian and Muslim, Muslim and Christian
Go back and forth in the name of religion
Lookin’ at people that we might not like
While we still proclaim that peace is right

Outro
Christian and Muslim, Muslim and Christian
Go back and forth in the name of religion
Lookin at people that we might not like
While we still proclaim that peace is right…

We go back and forth in the name of religion
But both us believe that we are God’s children
Go back and forth in the name of religion
But both us believe that we are God’s children

both us believe that we are God’s children
both us believe that we are God’s children
Neither will budge and neither is willin
But both us believe that we are God’s children
both us believe that we are God’s children
both us believe that we are God’s children
all are believers and all God’s children
both us believe that we are God’s children

Muslim and Christian, Christian and Muslim
Christian and Muslim, Muslim and Christian [x2]

Christian, Muslim, Muslim, Christian [to fade out]
