Just ‘Cause: Dancing is All in the Delivery – How One Woman Danced Through Labor

I’m at an age where a lot of my close friends are starting to spurt offspring of their own. A lot of them have shared their experiences with labor, and how they’ve tried to induce it or quicken the process in general. But sometimes, as Yuki Nishitzawa discovered, you just gotta dance it out.

To alleviate labor pains during an unmedicated childbirth at Brigham and Women’s Hospital’s Center for Labor, Birth and Recovery on Tuesday, Nishitzawa danced as her water broke and beyond. Her husband, Connell Cloyd, posted the videos of her dancing to Facebook and the videos have been viewed over a million times since.

“It’s all authentic,” Cloyd, 35, said. “She said put on some music. I said, ‘OK, we should crank it up.’” Their son, Coji, was born around 1:30 a.m., weighing 6 pounds, 15 ounces.

Congrats to Yuki and Cloyd on their beautiful new addition to the family!

Why? Just ‘Cause.
