As we all know by now, Psy‘s “Gangnam Style” took the world by storm in the 2nd half of last year, becoming the highest viewed Youtube video of all time and continues to be played on the radio and at public events to this day. Achieving that type of worldwide success is no easy feat, especially for a quirky fringe rapper from South Korea. That being said, Psy is attempting to repeat those accolades and is following a similar formula to get there. “Gentleman” is his latest single and it follows in a lot of the same footsteps in an attempt to recreate some of the magic that made “Gangnam Style” such a viral hit. The video prominently features a number of South Korean comedians and Ga-In from Brown Eyed Girls (a K-Pop group). It’s catchy and not quite as loud as “Gangnam”, and contains another random english catch phrase, “Mother Father Gentleman”… but time will tell if Psy goes the way of Los Del Rio and the “Macarena”, or if he’s a bonafide artist with international staying power.
