The Mid-week Music Video Mini-Reviews Youtube Round-Up – 2/13/14

We don’t have too many videos to share with you this week, but there is certainly a lot of variety in this small grouping. Indie-pop, satirical Hip-Hop, C-Pop, and Pop-Rock are all represented and is overall a fairly strong batch. It’s great to see the growth in breathe as well as depth in the musical world by Asian-American artists!

Priscilla Ahn – “Home”

Ms Ahn continues to spread out her sound, letting in some more diverse sonic elements into her work. We’re not too far away from the Feb 25th release of This is Where We Are, and this is a promising sign of what to expect form the album. As for the video, it’s a pretty strong in it’s own right and a recommended watch.

Chunk Dirty – “Imma Gangsta”

The video for this comedic rap group dropped a few weeks ago but I finally got a chance to check it out. If you’re a Chunk Dirty fan, you’ll probably love this one as it is filled with their inane brand of non-sensical comedy. At the very least, watch it for it’s satirical value.

Dawen x Kimberly – “Let’s Work It Out”

Mr Wang has teamed up with Kimberley for his latest foreign single and they make for a cute pop duo of a team. If you’re looking for something upbeat and literally bubbly to both listen and watch, then this fits the bill perfectly. Certainly appropriate for Valentine’s Day.

Paperdoll – “All or Nothing”

We’re a couple years removed from the release of Sashimi Deluxe but Paperdoll thankfully continues to promote singles from the project. This latest video doesn’t have quite the same visual flair of some of their past work, but it’s nice to see them outdoors for once.
