Ah, the prestigious EGOT club. There are but a dozen accomplished members in history who have earned a sweep in critical acclaim in performance media. These proud but few have earned Emmys, Grammys, Oscars, and Tonys for their work… and the 12th person to pull off this feat is Filipino American, Robert Lopez. Last night, he and his wife were awarded the Oscar for their song “Let It Go” (performed by Idina Menzel) for the smash hit Disney film, Frozen. I personally haven’t seen the movie yet (don’t judge!) but I’ve heard unanimous praises sung about the feature and this recognition makes it official. I know we don’t cover much news on song writers and composers, but this is something that had to be shared. Congratulations to Robert and his wife, Kristen, on this huge and justly deserved win!
